Where It All Began
In 1969, from the back of a little takeaway shop on Australia Street, Newtown, Tim and Effie Stamoulis began their journey to turn a dream into reality. Migrants from Greece, they arrived in the “Land of Opportunity” with a strong work ethic, big aspirations, and a commitment to building a better future for their family.
What started as a small, humble shop quickly evolved. Tim became a trusted “food dealer,” known for sourcing high-quality products for local businesses. By day, they ran the shop; by night, Tim was peeling and packing fresh potatoes to deliver to local businesses. The addition of a chip-cutting machine opened up new possibilities, allowing him to expand his offerings to meet the growing demand.
Growing with the Industry
With business booming, Tim and Effie took the leap, moving to Farr Street, Marrickville, where Marrickville Freezers Foodservice truly began to flourish. From a small operation, the business grew into a trusted supplier for Sydney’s food industry, proudly serving restaurants, cafes, catering businesses, school canteens, and bulk buyers for over five decades.
As time went on, the Stamoulis family expanded—not just with new customers and products, but also with their three children, who proudly joined the business. Together, they brought fresh ideas, energy, and a commitment to upholding their parents’ legacy of excellence.
Our New Chapter
Fast forward to today: Marrickville Freezers Foodservice has entered an exciting new chapter. Thanks to the loyalty and support of our customers, we’ve moved into a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility in Moorebank, NSW, designed to keep up with growing demand and deliver the best possible service.
Our team now combines over 150 years of collective industry experience, ensuring we’re always one step ahead in meeting the needs of our customers. From our beginnings in a small shop in Newtown to becoming one of Sydney’s most trusted foodservice providers, we’re proud to have grown alongside our community.
